Default Valentine's Date

So Valentine's is coming up here and I would love some suggestions on what to do for that day. I'll be spending it with my girlfriends of over 2 years and I live quite close to Vancouver at which time the olympics will be here. I had an idea of heading down there at night to tour around all the free stuff to do there and have dinner but its a Sunday so we have all day and I'm wondering what we should do. So any suggestions would be great. Oh and please keep in mind it will be hovering around or below 0 C or 32 F so no bike ride or picnics please :P

If you're going to have dinner, I'd be thinking about something home cooked. If it's anything like here, all the restaurants will be booked up for Valentine's night.

Good thinking to plan ahead! I can't think of any good ideas right now but has to say, did you realise you said your 'gorlfriends'? Do you have more than one? If so, best plan would not be to take them out at the same time!

Last year the guy I am dating made a very nice dinner at his house. His very good friend came over also with his wife and we talked and relaxed while the guys cooked us a wonderful dinner. There was music playing while we relaxed and drank wine. It was a better night and atmosphere than going to any restaurant.

Crazy...I am soooo jealous. Hubby and I thought about heading up to Vancouver for the Olympics, but hotels and transportation were off the charts! I think that sounds like a great day though. If it's anything like when the Olympics were in Atlanta, there should be PLENTY to do to keep you busy for the day...just strolling around the Olympic Village and other places around town. There were stages set up around at places around town with live music and people and stuff going on everywhere. Maybe plan to spend the day there and hit a restaurant on the way home to avoid the crowds. Also, probably not something you want to bank on, but in ATL tickets were everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE, for smaller events. People were constantly offering them up for free b/c they bought them in packages and couldn't use them. I did not pay for tickets for one event the whole time...you just can't be too choosy, but going to any event is a memorable experience. Let us know how is goes and Have fun!!!

I have an idea...why not book a sleigh ride and take hot chocolate, warm blanket and look at the stars! We wanted to do that at Chrismastime but we didnt have enough snow. That would be romantic...

Haha you know thats not a bad idea. Sorry didn't realize I said girlfriends its just one haha.

CookieCookieCookieCookieCookieCookieCookieCookie- Yes hotels are absolutely outrageous here right now. We have a thing called a skytrain (a Subway that runs in the air instead of underground) that runs from the suburbs of Vancouver to Vancouver and right into the Olympic Village. A hotel that is normally $95 CDN a night is now $330CDN a night! That's at the very opposite end of the skytrain line! Probably a 40min train ride from that hotel to Vancouver! HAHA. I have tickets to two events right now and they were not cheap either...thank god I'm in driving distance. I'm very excited. My girlfriend and I are going to an event on Feb 26th.

Oh and sorry Kello we do have a very large aquarium here. Did you ever see the youtube video of the 2 otters holding hands? If so that was taken at our aquarium.

A few museums but nothing really worth taking a look at unforunately, well except the art gallery but that is in the most shady part of town and not somewhere very romantic to go on Valentine's day haha

I know a guy who's doing alphabetical dating. Where every date has a different letter theme - Maybe start you're A on Valentine's Day?

Why don't you try doping some of the winter olympics atheletes? That will be fun.

Anybody else think 'Skytrain' sounds like an 80's Hair Metal group - 'Good Evening Cleveland, We are Skytrain! We will rock you're world!'

Kuwabara's idea sounds cool--if you started with "A", you could go to the aquarium. :-) I think it is really sweet that you are already planning so far ahead. She'll be pleased.

Yeah have X as Xbox night -play guitar hero or something
That frees up G to be- GLOCKENSPIEL night. I'll be honest I just like saying that word.

Think of all the helpless Xylophone makers though - no longer will dough eyed romantic lovers congragate on the factory floor admiring their melodic work.

Yeah, let's see, it's going to be cold according to canuck so I still (despite the cold) would suggest a warm blanket and picnic with some wine and back it all up with a very nice gift, like bracelet or necklace.

I dated a gal once and we went horseback riding (double) the weekend before Valentines so on Valentines she got a dozen or so roses from "Pete."
(My horse at the time.)
