Alright guys, just wondered if anyone else had a Wii with Wii Fit - I got a Wii free last week with my new phone package and got Wii Fit at the weekend. Been doing the yoga and stuff and it really is a lot of fun and the board is really sensitive. The stretches and muscle exercises are making me feel a lot more sure in my body, which with this disease can only be a good thing. I know many people will criticize the Wii Fit as a fad, and I was sceptical but I'm genuinley loving it.
Wondered if anyone else has got it/played on it? I've got my Wii Fit Age down from 28 to 20! Not bad for a 23 year old. Loved it when my mate got on and I was 0.12 off being overweight on the BMI meter! He's in a real flap now-actually going to the gym and laying off the beer.

Not personally, but I think anything that motivates people to better themselves is a good thing, whether it's a Wii Fit, the thought of a longer life or the motivation of a cookie at the end of an hour long workout. Personally I refuse to touch it only because it caters to non-bodybuilders by using BMI and focuses on "weight lost" and not body composition, but that's a more unique and isolated issue, and is negligible in the bigger societal picture of sedentary prevalence (put on 10 pounds of muscle and it will assume you gained 10 pounds of fat and that you took steps backwards...that's not for me
)...Awesome on the "free" factor too. If you are into games much, although it's the weaker of the 3 consoles out, I can give you good recommendations depending on what kind of games you might want for other entertainment (Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros., Mad World, some others). It's odd how they packaged a console with a phone, must have been a nice phone or a lucrative contract. Otherwise, it's like "Hey, buy this dishwasher and get a brand new house to put it in, FREE!"

I love it - especially for the days when I feel too mongied to get dressed, or nervous to leave the house for fear of incident, I hop on the wii for a bit and feel like I have achieved something.
Invariably after I have been on the wii, I feel better in myself and jump in the shower, put some makeup on and feel ready to face the world, or at least my living room - possibly the corner shop if I am REALLY invigorated! Of course I would rather be out in my kit going for a long run, or down at the dojo having a good pull around with one of my friends, but right now the wii gives me a little bit of activity at a manageable level, in the privacy of my own home, and with the option to pause whenever I need the loo! Love it! Lishyloo x |

BWS - I used to be a hardcore gamer bro - I'm not a part time Wii'er Ive got an Xbox(its all about MW2)- been playing games since Atari and Spectrum days! Super Mario Galaxy is next on my list for the Wii.
The phone is a Nokia 6303 - £25 a month, 500 mins free, Unlimited texts, 24 month contract with a Wii and Wii Sports Resort. You could choose between a Xbox,PS3 and a Wii. I'd love to do 'real exercise' but the weather is awful, it gets dark at 4/5 and the nearest decent park is about a mile away. I'm not a fan of the gym either cos its full of a certain breed of competitive meathead, most of which I went to school with. Definetley going to start cycling when the weather gets better though. Re - Guitar Hero - I just feel guilty everytime I play on it, cos I've got a real guitar in the corner weeping 'Play me!'. Its terrfying when you're nailing songs on Expert and you realize that your prancing around your living room with a plastic guitar in your hand. Perhaps we should turn this into a gaming thread? Any fans of Final Fantasy VII or Zelda:The Ocarina of Time? GoldenEye 64? - A mispent youth.

We have it with the Fit James. The bastard sends my daughter looking for me LOL!!!! Don't know if you have run into that or not. If you have several people or "mii's" set up, and the have the Fit profile going - when you haven't gotten on in a while to work out (ehem) - the next person that plays on it - the system will ask "have you seen Peaches?? Tell her we haven't seen her in a while" blah blah blah!! I was like "What??" the first time I heard it - now the kids just laugh. It hasn't seen me in QUITE a while! It is cool though. I like the marble balancing game the best.
Oh yeah..and Guit Hero as well. It will make you go BLIND I swear!! |

I was very interested in your report of the wii. My family members in England all have this wii, and I intend to get one when I am through with all the physiotherapy to regain and improve my balance. I am not quite sure how to install and use it, mainly its the connections you have to do. Have to wait till one of the kids come for a holiday to resove it all. Do all the other things you mention go with it ie Final fantasy, Ocarina etc? annsplash |

I love FPS (1st person shooter) and RTS (real time strategy) games for my top two genres, but will do most other hardcore games (except JRPG's/Turnbased RPG's and Turn-based strategy..oh, and racing has to be action oriented, but I will try sim ones once in a while, just don't prefer them). Mainly it's action and it's gotta be real time with a lot of strategy, any mix of that (thinking man's shooters, sneak-games like Hitman, etc..). Ocarina of Time is one of my top games of all time, but I don't care that much for FF games as they are usually turn based. I am fine if they're real time, although the Japanese styles aren't as attractive to me as the more realistic art of say, Fallout 3 or Mass Effect, etc...I just don't care for anime or manga that much, or the cultural style of story-telling and voice acting, but that's me. GoldenEye 007 (often now called GoldenEye 64 by some) and Perfect Dark 1 are two of my most revered games of all time as well. I'd put Super Mario Bros. 3 (from NES) in there, along with Max Payne 1 and 2 (on PC only), the Red Alert franchise, No One Lives Forever 2, Serious Sam, Soldier of Fortune 2, Red Faction 1 (PC only), Uncharted 1 and 2, Gears of War 1 (on PC), Far Cry 1, Timesplitters 3 (Future Perfect), Star Wars Battle Front 2, The Condemned: Criminal Orgins, Bioshock 1 (PC), Resistance 1, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Donkey Kong Country trilogy (SNES), Crysis, Mercenaries 1, Killzone 2, Super Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. Melee.... The list goes on, I'll be here all night, and those are in no particular order, either. I haven't played Modern Warfare 2 as I am one of the boycotters because of Bobby Kotick and his attitude. I'll think about buying it much later, I refuse to support that game due to the comments he's made. I'd ask you to support the employer I'm looking at for using my degree, High Voltage Software (they're 30 minutes from me) by buying their Wii Game, The Conduit. They're awesome people and many of them went to my school. It's a good FPS game, and if you like shooters and now have a Wii, you should get it, it's one of the prettiest and coolest games on the system. Edit: and I'm a pleasant exception to the "meathead" rule of the pompous jerks often known for "weight lifting mentalities"...not all are like that, thankfully. But I know why the stigma is there.

Peaches I've not had that, but my best mate is worried that he's overweight because his BMI was 24.8 or something but its like BWS says it can't differentiate between muscle and fat and he's well built. He text me the day after I got it, 'Wii Fit tonight? - I said no, he's like 'Why not?' I said I don't like spending my evenings watching my best mate gyrating and streching on the Wii Fit in front of me in my bedroom! - he text me back 'Gay'. I was just text back 'I'M GAY!? I'm not the one who wants two grown men to spend thier free time watching each other in a small room bending over and jiggling around!' - It was weird.
I like the rhythmic games - boxing and martial arts - I just get into the groove! Annsplash - Final Fantasy and Ocarina of Time are classic vintage games - nothing to do with the Wii I'm afraid. Setting up the Wii Fit is pretty easy its all explained when you load it up. As for the Wii itself its not too difficult either - have you got someone you can ask to help set it up? I'm sure you could find something online to help you. BWS - Good taste in games there mate. I'l just do a quick top ten - you'll get the impression! Final Fantasy VII,Ocarina of Time,C & C Red Alert,Civilization,Rome:Total War,Metal Gear Solid,Resident Evil,Any Mario game,Timesplitters 2,Soul Calibur... I could go on. I have no idea who Bobby Kotick is bro! Its a bit late for me now. I'll google him. Id like to support your friends mate but I haven't got a the right type of Credit card to buy Wii Points. I know how you feel though the two developers closest to me are Team 17 in Wakefield - they did the Worms series of games and Rockstar Leeds who did the Chinatown Wars game- which I hear is really awesome. I'm thinking of getting that No More Heroes Game- it looks awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUFVczCTkcs ( Review here - its a Mature rated game BTW) = BWS you might want to check out/subscribe the guy who does these reviews on youtube - he does like 10 mins reviews of the latest games and also old classics. When he's reviewing new games he always compares them to ancient mega drive games and stuff.

Haha unlucky Shaz!
I was very impressed when on Guitar Hero 3 I could play Bulls on Parade and Hit me with your best shot without looking at the screen on expert. Then I realized I was a pathetic figure of a man. Something in my head said 'Go outside and meet people you idiot and play your real guitar - THEN chicks will dig you'

James, you guys don't have The Conduit over there? It's a retail game, it shouldn't be available online on the Wii Channel for purchase as it's a disc-only based game, globally, at least as far as I know. I'm 99% sure it's not via download, it's a full release, and nowadays it's dropped in price, it's maybe $20 USD on Amazon and the likes, or even if you can catch it in stores. I'm not sure the Wii could hold that game anyways, via download, since they rely on SD cards for downloads for the most part, and it's gotta be several gigs at least, in size, since it's a DVD9-based release.
Anyways, I like almost all those games you have listed, forgot Resident Evil, but I'm newer to the series (I had a 64 and Gamecube, and although it came to those systems, I couldn't keep up and didn't get into it until later). Do you like the "historical" based RTS games like Age of Empires or Empire Earth etc..., since you like Civ? I just prefer the real time, but I know the Civ games are well revered games.

Sorry BWS I thought it was like a game you could download online. I'll have a look for it.
Re Resident Evil - its mainly one of my favourite games purley for the voice acting....its just can't be beaten - I actually know all the opening dialogue off by heart....'Wow...what a mansion....!' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a41TA...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulbotKa5LnM (Top 50 Worst game dialogues in history) There's some classic lines such as 'Tom left a message,he wrote it on the floor in own blood!' In his own blood?! Way to go kid!... AND 'Interested in my body aren't you? Not interested Oh,you're into THAT I like girls but now... its about justice Kittkat- What's your favourite yoga move? Your dog looks pretty funny. 'Tallebudgera'- Thats a town that could only be in Australia. Reminds me of the Simpsons when they inadvertedly bring the American bullfrog over and that Aussie bloke asks Marge what its called, the Aussie bloke says 'That's a bleedin stupid name that is! It should be called a Wallagong!'
