I can't believe I ate......

Since we talk about food we can and can't eat on here so often, I thought it might be interesting to see if there are foods that sometimes you can eat and sometimes you can't. My thought is that we could probably eat most anything IF we were eating it at a time when our disease was quiet (barring you guys and gals who actually have barely functioning strictures that is).

Case in point - I ate popcorn yesterday. Yes - the dreaded popcorn. It just about killed me 3 or 4 months ago - sending me to the bathroom with massive D for hours. But alas, if I let enough time go by - I get brave again. So - I ate popcorn at the movies yesterday and haven't seen or heard from it yet today!

Biscuits and Gravy. Nearly did me in yesterday.
Sometimes shrimp makes me sick, but I soldier on :)

I ate some Pistachios on our camping trip...I love them. I used self control and only ate about 2 handfuls. No problems!......Next time, who knows, but it was worth it.

I cant believe I ate these been burritos.

I told you guys about the ones at Tacobell a while back. Well I made up a couple of pounds of refried beans last week. I froze some and put the rest in the fridge. I ate soft tacos with cheese and mild salsa tonight using the refried bean/chilly powder mix I made.

But popcorn? lol Peaches that's just asking for trouble. I don't think I'd have the guts to go into a casino with you. Apparently you like the high stakes tables :D

I LOVE popcorn and corn on the cob but I haven't been brave enough to try them, I don't eat a lot just so I don't have to figure out what I can't eat. I'm hoping to get over that at some point because I keep losing weight and the doctors are not happy about that.

But I have learned that Summer squash and zucchini are a big NO, and also my favorite, sometimes I just can't refuse them.

That's me - living life on the wild side ;) It's hard to sit in a movie with hubby though - he *always* gets a huge tub of popcorn. I'm ok until there is a big suspense scene - then I want to eat something and the popcorn is always there! Still no backlash - I'm hoping everything goes smoothly.....

Have you tried to eat them peeled? I know they are still pretty fiberous without the peel - but I think the peel is what usually does me in.

Raw veggies and sesame seeds at a hibatchi restaurant with my friends last night. yummmm, but i am feeling terrible today :(

what is SCD?
SCD is Specific Carbohydrate Diet - a much debated book that I try not to get into debates with people on here. The belief is if you heavily restrict your diet and only eat things that starve the "bad" bacteria (not sure how you can pick which bacteria you are starving!) - that you can cure yourself of Crohn's and not need medication. Sounds wonderful......

My problem with any diet is that I can't be told to "choose from these foods."
I need to be told to "eat this for breakfast, eat this for lunch, eat this for dinner."
Then I can survive the diet.

(man I need the military bad!! They are doing something right. If you weigh 280 and your friend weighs 140; after boot camp you both weigh 180 and are cut/defined AND you have ate the same foods for 8 weeks!)

mushrooms, they had me in hospital for 4 days. the day before i was discharged the dinner was mushroom stroganoff!!!! try and kill me why dont you?

Popcorn, Cashews and pastachios have never been an issue for me, peanuts on the other hand absolutly kill me and that is the only thing that I can really put my finger on, everything else is good to go!

I had chicken wings and beer last friday - 4 weeks after bowel surgery! oh it felt good to eat that.

Tamale pie (made of kidney beans, black beans, and garbanzos, and corn and other assorted veggies) (shudder) . . . see all my previous whiny posts on how it sent me to the ER.

I'll never eat that again, along with all the other foods that obstructed me last summer before the doctors finally found my stricture and diagnosed me with Crohn's: a huge bowl of popcorn (1st time), 1/2 a jar of peanuts (second time), and broccoli with garlic sauce (third time).

All the above listed foods are SO DELICIOUS, too! Grrrrrrrrrr.
