Supplements

Supplements can be used to ensure that all the dietary needs of a person with IBD are met, as poor absorption of nutrients plus an often restricted diet can mean a person is deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. Certain medications can also take minerals out of the body, so these minerals must be replaced.

Other supplements are used to try to soothe inflammation or to halt the disease process.

Some common supplements include:
Pyncnogenol
Cod Liver Oil
Vitamin D
Vitamin B12
Calcium
Aloe Vera

Some supplements can interfere with drugs, therefore you should check with your doctor before starting or stopping any supplements.
