Another colonoscopy - Pentesa

I had a colonoscopy in July. Just completed a sigmoid flex yesterday. Biopsies were taken again. And now I have been prescribed Pentesa enema. Went from Salofalk suppositories to this. Not looking forward to this procedure every night.

Apparently another specialist was called in during the procedure and I have now been forwarded to him. He is a surgeon!!!! So needless to say I am a little bit scared.

They also gave me pictures, which was very surprising and I will add them to my journal/bible on my disease. I tried to upload but apparently the size is to large.

But to top it off today is a very bad day. Dizzy, very nauseated and cramps...in my stomach no less. Ugggh, really starting to hate my life.

And......I still have no idea what is wrong with me. Yet to be diagnosed. I fear the dreaded crohns word.

I am sorry for all you are going through. Feel free to come in here with questions, support or to vent. There is a section in here for people who are undiagnosed if you would like to check it out.

Hi dejavucandace, the Pentasa Suppositories are actually easy to do. I hope they are the same for you as in Uk because they come with a pack of very useful finger condoms. Now I use some lubricant when inserting them & they pop in very easily.
Good luck

She is now on enemas...different application.

The enemas are a bit tricky in the beginning, but hopefully you will get adjusted in 4-5 days. I had to do enemas twice a day in addition to suppositories. Didn't like it, but they did help.

Thanks 2thFairy. I waited until the weekend to start them and no....I wasn't a fan. That first 5 to 10 minutes is hard. And the first few times I wasn't able to get all the medication in. I am getting better at it but they suggest that the medicine needs to stay in for at least 8 hours and I have yet to get past 5 1/2 hours. And even with that it seems that I now have some night time insomnia along with a headache. And to top it off I haven't gone to the bathroom since I started this. The lack of sleep and the belly issues....its hard not to feel a little bit down. :(

dejavucandace, so sorry that I got my wires crossed ref suppositories & enemas. I hope the meds work for you, it sounds a nightmare trying to hold it in for 8 hrs. I couldn't do it.
My very best wishes to you.

I have been unable to continue with this medication. Both attempts to use it have caused me with insomnia, fever, sore throat and extremely bad head ache. It also appears to cause a worsening of symptoms. So I guess I am back to square one again with this. A few more weeks and I have an appointment with another specialist. Hope he has something better to prescribe.

You may want to see if there are any cancellations if they can get you in sooner. Best to you.
