Feel like a little ol' lady!!

Hi everyone
hope you're all doing ok?

I've been wingeing and moaning for days about my joint pain, tendonitis and muscle cramps etc!
I DO feel like a little ol' lady (but I don't smell of wee)

I've been doing some research, cos there's been a few bowel buddies with similar symptoms and I looked at the Pred withdrawal symptoms, and the tapering down.
And I found this -

'Another possible complication to coming off steroids is steroid withdrawal syndrome, or rebound effect, which is the body's exaggerated response to removal of the drug. Rebound effect can result in fever, muscle pain, and joint pain making it hard for the physician to differentiate between withdrawal symptoms and a flare of the disease itself.'

http://arthritis.about.com/cs/steroi...steroids_2.htm

Hope this helps anyone who has just come off Pred or is tapering down, and feels like crap!

lotsa luv
xxx

Well that just sucks! But on the bright side, if that is your problem, it's sure to be short lived. Hope you get to feelin' better soon.

I felt like an old lady when I started the Pred. I was shuffling to and from work and found stairs impossible. I am tapering off now and feel great!

I'm so sorry you're feeling bad. Man, Pred is unpredictable.

Joan, I'd feel like a little ol' lady with ya but I can't find my lil' ol' lady dress so I'll have to wear my party dress and use my imagination. lol

Thanks for the info, but what if you have the joint pains but not on Pred. oops, just read where it said steriods and I just came off the Entocort a while back. I think mine may be from the Remi.

Hi Joan - Sorry you're feeling crummy! When I went from 20 mg down I had some withdrawal symptoms like you describe with the joint pain. I also had headache and nausea.

Have you talked to the doc about this? Are you starting on the Humira next week??

I sure hope you feel better soon. I hate to think of your smiling face not smiling.

Aw Amy thank you my friend
I'm not smiling anymore! I'm in bloody agony!
Yes, I'm going to see my consultant on Monday and talk about starting Humira, he has approved it, so shouldn't be long now!
I'm gonna ask him about checking for arthritis or osteo too, just in case.
Hope you're on the mend too Amy?

I've got the joint pain thing starting again too...as well as the lovely acne!! My doctor just put me back on meds to hopefully get the symptoms under control. So much for my med-free existence!! The only good thing about having the bag is that I don't get the 'usual' Crohn's symptoms of D or C. Oscar's working great!! The rest of me is falling apart...lol

Aw, Joan and Cindy! Sorry you're both feeling poorly. Damn the joint pain! Hope you can both get it under control and start to feel better soon. In the absence of being able to take Ibuprofen, can you take anything good like percocets???

Joan - I'm feeling great, thanks!

Hi Joan & Ames, Pred is just an awful (albeit needed at times) drug. I feel restless, agitated, achy, and tired. I really am like a different guy when I have to take it.
BTW, you both have pretty smiles (platonically speaking-not flirting with crohnie sistas) here's hoping you both have a pain free day.

Hi Jerman, I think that's how Nicole feels with the restless, agitated, achy, and tired. But I think she's handling it so well... I know she doesn't want me to worry.

BTW, you both have pretty smiles (platonically speaking-not flirting with crohnie sistas)
pssst, between us guys, great flirting technique dude.... keep 'em confused. ("platonically"... good one)

Glad to hear about the Crohn's part of it, Joan, but all these side effects attached to every drug you guys have to take is absolutely ridiculous. All it is, is subbing one group of pains for another. Sometimes I don't know how Nick deals with that stress... which as we've all learned, is not a good thing.

Sorry for soapboxing but sometimes it's not easy watching your loved one be in pain each day, every day and all you can do is just hope you don't burn her breakfast.
Will let you all know what the doc says tomorrow
Keep us posted Joan, I pray it's not Osteo.
