Weird eye thing still going on

weird eye thing still going on

Hi all.
I have recently had a head mri scan as i went to see my gp with he following symptoms in my right eye.
Blurry vision, flashes of light, sharp pains, sensitivity to light, pain upon looking upwards.
It had been going on for about 3 weeks but couldn't get anyone to take me seriously. Eventually got in see my favourite gp. He got me in to see an eye specialist the next day at the eye infirmary.
Had a really good exam including drops to highlight anything going on. They also put drops in to dilate my pupils so they could see if anything was going on in behind.
The couldn't see anything conclusive so they sent me for an mri. Had this 2 weeks ago and i will chase them up tomorrow about my follow up appointment.
The thing is its not getting any better and in fact its getting worse. Some days more than others.
Have not had this before. I suffer from UC not Crohns so didn't think i would get these extra intestinal manifestations. My joints do ache a lot but have been told its not arthritis.
I am worried because i don't want to be fobbed off without being told what it might be.
Just wondered if anyone had any ideas. Any input is always very much appreciated.

Hiya Shazz
I feel your pain sister!
Instead of me repeating it, please read my thread
http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=21394&highlight=neurologist

I was in agony! I couldn't even look up etc, you sound the same.
I had an MRI too, about 5 yeas ago, I just plodded on, thought it was normal, went to the eye hospital, opticians, acupuncturist, chiropractor, osteopath blah blah, .....thought I had to just put up with it forever but....
Once I got a new GP he referred me to the Walton Centre.
He prescribed Amitriptyline and I have to say they've helped but... sometimes I get them, but nip them in the bud with the recommendations from the neurologist. I very rarely take painkillers now, and make sure I'm always hydrated.
Take care xxx

Thanks Joan.
I have always suffered from migraines. I am violently sick, have nose bleeds and have even passed out before. Had them since I was 14.
I don't take anything for them as nothing stays in! I have not drank cafinated ccoffee for about 2 years now. With ozzie I can't even have decafinated anymore. The fizzy cola I let go flat is the caffeine free one.
I will chase them up tomorrow for an appointment but i am expecting to be told there was nothing on the mri and to just learn to live with it.
Of course I have recently been taking codeine and oramorph but had not had any for over 2 weeks and still no improvement. Had to take some today though because of the pain of my flare up.
Am always drinking plenty as well at the moment since Ozzie has arrived! Was dehydrated once before and really don't want to go there again.
Was prescribed amitriptyline but they actually triggered my migraines if i take them for more than 4 nights in a row! That was only on half a tablet as well. Such a lightweight!
I will ask if that is what it is though.
Hope you are keeping well hun

I'm fine thanks, good ol Entocort!
Codeine is such a mad drug, I never realised how damaging it was!
Hope you get something sorted xxxxxx

Hi Shazz,
I have MC and am having similar issues with my eyes, difficulties focusing, feels like something is in them, and light sensitivity, and although I don't have sharp pain, they hurt alot! I went to see an opthamologist yesterday and she diagnosed me with blepharatis. I am to wash my eyes 2x a day and she prescribed a steroid ointment (I don't have the name handy). Hope you get some answers!

I have blepharitis as well (and a corneal ulcer on top of that), and the thing that my ophthalmologist said to do to help relieve the swelling and itching is use warm compresses on your eyes twice a day. Might be worth a try for you shazz...if anything, it's free and it really feels nice on the eyes!

Hi Shaz

For the migraines you could try Imigran nasal spray. I have to take that as I am very sick with them & conventional tablets come straight back.
Its worth a go x.
