Anyone take apriso?

Unless you were told outright by a doctor it was the asacol, then that it wasn't causing the numbness. The drug itself lines the digestive tract acting as a topical medication, it doesn't cross the blood barrier or get processed by the body.
With apriso I want to say it's about 300 a month
but I could be wrong. My mom still pays for it!

It's just another version of mesalamine. I kept telling my doctor that mesalamine was making me worse and giving me horrible headaches. He just kept switching me to different brands of the same drug.
They're not all the same though. They release at different parts of the colon and absorb differently.
I was told by my doctor Apriso coats the walls of the colon. It never worked for me and they finally went the next step up... 6MP.

Colitis and crohns in general can cause tiredness. You should try going to your primary care doctor for the finger problem and he can run some tests.
The numbness might be caused from jint inflammation that cuts off the blood supply when it gets bad-I've had that from Crohn's. I agree with Xeekk-the disease itself causes exhaustion.
I take Pentasa, which is also another name for mesalamine, and I also used Canasa and Rowasa, which are forms of mesalamine for rectal use.

I just started Apriso yesterday. How is it working for you? It is making me a bit tired and I have a very dry mouth. I also get warm/tingly about an hour after taking it. I talked to my doctor and he doesn't think it's anything to worry about. It's too soon to say if it's working yet. I have to wait a few weeks.

Make it through. I also found that if I wait to long during the morning to take it I get dizzy until I take it. I also do get the dry mouth but it's not too bad. And I don't get the warm tingly maybe Im used to it and don't notice but it doesn't seem to be anything to worry about. How many do you take a day? I'm taking four every morning. I'm not sure if its different for some people.
I took Apriso. The only difference I saw between Asacol and Apriso was the amount of pills each day. With Apriso you only take four, whereas Asacol it was twelve.
Apriso didn't do anything for me. But my Crohn's was severe at that point so Apriso or Asacol wouldn't do much. They are more of a maintenance drug and not meant to help when in a big flare. It was onto Prednisone and Cimzia for me after that.

I thought 4 pills a day was a lot but 12!? I can't even imagine taking that many. But so far on apriso I haven't had any flares or stomach pains ( depending upon what I eat of course)
Just wondering out of sheer curiousity...does the HD have the dark, red coating on it too?

I am on Apriso. I take 3 pills 4x a day. It is a P.I.T.A. I feel that it is not doing enough for me. I actually get it for free. My specialist has tons of it in the office. The nurse there told me the first time to bring a bigger bag each time so she can shove more boxes with little bottles inside of it. You can be assured that I did lol.
I need to do something though. The pain is bad tonight. I am laying next to a bottle of 50mg tramadol. It is a higher dose than I have ever taken before though. I have been waiting. I do not feel like adding on a possible different kind of sickness on top of everything else if I have a reaction to it. I try to stay away from meds for pain. They usually expire on me. I am going to go back to the doctor next week. I have a fear though when I feel like this that I can be told that I am not going home but across the street to the hospital. It happened before and I do not want that now. She asked me last time if it was ok with me to be admitted for a little bit. I said no because I wanted to go home.

Yeah another Apriso taker here. If I've been off of it for a long enough time to feel like a flare up is kicking in again it usually take a week to a week and an half for it to take affect again. Was on the asacol prior to apriso and all it did was give me pretty nasty headaches for about two weeks before I said the h*** with this and told the doc to put me on something else. I have noticed being a lot more tired lately but dont know if I can blame that on the apriso, the cimzia, or from the new taper down in prednisone. Other than that apriso seems to be the only 5-asa that does anything for me, but I still cant call it the magic bullet by any means.
On the funny side of this medication though I am not thouroughly convinced that this stuff is medication. It seems like all the round little balls in the capsules dont dissolve and they just hold poo together for the journey to the water treatment plant. It must be early this morning or I didn't get enough sleep because this last part is pure deliriousness.

Aloysius, I am extremely tired too since starting Apriso. Jennjenn do you notice any tiredness or other side-effects? I have been taking them for almost two weeks now, and am going to the bathroom 4x a day instead of 6-7x a day, but still have blood. My doctor said 1-3 weeks to see a big difference, so I am hanging in there (barely). I hope that the tiredness goes away.
It's okay KaLa no worries. But I understand why you mean it makes me tired too but I can stil get through the day most of the time.
