Humira every 16 days?

i was just wondering if anyone has ever taken Humira every 16 days instead of the usual 15 days and if so, how did it work out?

I am trying to lessen the side effects at least a little without the medication stopping the fact that it has put my crohns in remission for over three yrs.

the side effects for me are making life pretty unbearable but I know the alternative and it isn't any better.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated. I will be informing my gastro of my plans to do this but was just wondering other people here thought about it.

thank you!
Paul.

Sorry to hear you're having bad side effects if you don't mind me asking want side effects have you been getting? I've only been on Humira for 6 weeks so I haven't any experience of moving it out a day. Hope someone else can give you some advice on this.

Sorry to hear you are having a bad time as of late.

I have been on Humira for three months and I haven't experienced any side affects so far on the drug. My routine is every second Thursday, and so I take an injection to the upper thigh every 14 days. I feel Humira gives me a boost of energy though, in all honesty, not much else.

I'm currently in remission and so I'm quite lucky. If Humira is working for me behind the scenes in order to block off the disease then great, but I'm unsure if that is the case or not.

In reference to your 16 day query, do you have a special Humira nurse you can speak to? Changing routine hasn't been necessary for myself and the specialist nurses are the first people I would turn to if I had a question.

All the best.

*Yvonne* and Hepburn- thank you for your replies.
I will be calling my gastro doctor this week to see what he thinks.

the side effects have been really loud ringing in my ears that comes and goes, panic attacks, and extreme nervousness. Oh yea and really bad insomnia.

I've always had problems with being nervous, depressed etc. but never even close to this degree and never had a problem with sleeping or ringing in my ears.

The other thing that's a big problem for me is that I have social anxiety and I would take 5 to maybe 10 mgs of valium for a social situation that made me nervous and maybe one beer and I would be fine but right after I started Humira my tolerance went through the roof. I literally can take an unlimited amount of valium and booze and not really feel much of anything. Somehow it made my tolerance extremely high.

sorry if this was too long, I have a tendency to ramble on.

thanks again.

All I know is that my schedule is every other tuesday now but doc said it wasnt a huge deal if i was a day before/after scheduled day for whatever reason, but she was referring to a more now and then thing not a permanent move to a longer schedule so Im not sure how thatd work

Hey aideen33. thanks for your input. You seem to be on the same schedule as me. I guess I better ask my gastro before I start doing the 16 day thing. I have a feeling if I do it, it won't turn out to good in the end.

Have you experienced any side effects from Humira?

thanks!

Only thing I can pinpoint is the fact that the day after shot day i have what im now calling the "humira flu" where im run down, etc.
