Gut Bacteria fighter may help IBS/IBD

Happy New year all, just popping in to send this article that I saw in our local paper, I have known about this study for awhile and puts some people into remission whilst being on VSL#3 together. NOTE: this drug is NOT available in Canada yet. If you can get this drug it could be a lifesaver for some. Worth while read.

I was put on this a few times by my doctor. It worked pretty well the first few times (usually 14 day courses), but lost it's efficacy. You have to make sure you don't miss a dose since it's an antibiotic. The few times I did, I noticed a bit of a downswing in symptoms for a day or two. As the article says, this antibiotic stays in the gut so it shouldn't do a number on your immune system and you probably won't have many side effects (I didn't have any). My doctor said it's expensive, but my insurance covered it so I'm not sure how much it is.

@effdee - I had same exact experience with it... work for a bit than fades (insurance also covered it..)
