Surviving Crohn's Disease

:ghug:
Hey all,

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1988. Loads of colon-scopes etc etc.
In 2004, I went in for appendicitis and had 30cm rigid large intestine removed through the tiny cut. I flat-lined on the table. (being B+ blood group did not help me much). I consider myself Blessed.
Life was normal until 2009, I started having severe headaches which turned into serious migraines and alternating paralysis. This has since stopped, but if i get really stressed i have this tingling in my jaw and suffer a form of epilepsy & my stomach cramps and lets loose..
I take Entocort and Azathioprine 50 PCH.
The latest is pimple like rash on my face that started on my chin and now blotches all over my face. Not too sure if it has to do with menopause or the medication.

Hiya Bren
and welcome

Yes you're definately blessed! I'm glad you've had many years feeling well,
Entocort and Aza can cause headaches, I was allergic to Aza, brought me out in a rash all over, itching bleeding hives!
Have you heard of Amitriptyline? This med has been the best thing since sliced bread! I was suffering with terrible headaches and neuralgia whilst coming off Prednisolone and starting Entocort. It's been a God send, I have no pain and I'm sleeping really well.
Anyway, good to have you with us, enjoy the forum
lotsa luv

Hi Bren and welcome!

Sounds like you have a lot going on! The meds, and hormones, can really do a number on skin and hair.

Try to keep that stress to a minimum!

I know in canada they dont make Amitriplyline anymore ! Once they stoped making it the doctor prescribed Noritriptyline. Both drugs are prescibed from headachs, arthritis,Crohns, sleeping pill, and depression !
:goodluck:

It really helped me and I hope it helps you. It does take some time to get used to though, about 7 days for me. It can make you groggy, but in my book, that was OK.
