Waiting for a Diagnosis

My story is on the IBD forum, because I haven't gotten a diagnosis yet. I'm going for a second opinion.

During my colonoscopy, my doc failed to take any biopsies of my ileum. My symptoms are related to bile salts diarrhea from malabsorption in the ileum. My hubby and I were floored that she didn't take biopsies from the area where I'm having problems. Has anybody else had this happen to them?

Anybody out there have their Crohn's just in the area of the ileum? No ulcerations. Bright yellow diarrhea for over ten weeks. Fever, joint pain, and canker sores. Problems eating dairy now.

I wish you the best of luck. If you can eat then use a food journal to keep track of what makes you feel good and bad. I hope you get better soon.

I forgot to mention that I have lost a lot of weight since I got sick.

Mine is also ONLY in the ileum. During coloscopy, my Doc didn't even get the scope into the ileum to do a biopsy due to inflammation at the time. Had to go for an uperr GI series / small bowel follow-through to see the top side.

I'm sorry to hear that. Your case is more complicated than mine. My ileum just stopped reabsorping the bile out of the blue. When the bile hit my large intestine, OH BOY. Horrible diarrhea. I'm not digesting dairy now either.

I just made an appointment with an IBD specialist for a second opinion. His first appt is in October. They have me on a waiting list for a sooner appt. At this point, I figure if it is Crohn's it's not going away so I will wait to see him. I'm not bleeding this time, so that's a plus.
