reversal without J-Pouch??

Has anyone had a reversal with a j-pouch? I am supposed to be getting a reversal done in a couple months and still have 2/3 of the colon - so I shouldn't need a j-pouch, right? The docs never mentioned it to me - but I keep hearing about it.

Has anyone had one without - and how was recovery?
