Hi All,

My name is Karen I am 31 years old. I have been suffering not only with stoamch and bowel issues but women's issues for about 20 years now.

Grwoing up of course nothing could be done because I was a teenager and it was basically the changes in your body and then as I hit my 20's I was told all my problems would cease after having children. I was 22 when this was 1st said to me. Doctors couldn't understand why I wasn't willing to have a baby ... lets see I am 22 and I am single and still living at home!!

Over the next years I was in and out of doctors and specialists whose only aswer was to have a baby. At 30 one doctors even said why had my partner not done the decent thing by now you are after all 30!!

I finally got referred to a gastronenterologist (I am a disaster at spelling so I hope you all got the gist) and she started to find my problems and diagnosed the Crohn's. I should have said I did attend one specialist who told me 6 years ago I had IBS and a lazy osphogus (Oh help me and my spelling). She put me on Asacolon and Buscopan twice a day. So all seemed going well and I was also attending kinesiology these past 6 years. About once a year I go. So I am quite good with my behaing on limiting what I eat. I am back now to cutting out wheat and dairy which is a bit prob for IBS sufferes.

But the strangest thing my specialist had out me on Asacolon and buscopan in May 08 at twice a day. I also have this almight pain in my left hand side that no one can figure out. But after been on the meds for a period of time the left hand pain went so I though fantastic and the Crohn's seemed to be under control provided I wasn't silly with my food. Any how went back to my GP who changed all my meds and reduced what I was taking. Now I feel I am back to square one. I am in bits. I am back with my specialist next month again.

Welcome Karen,
Sorry to hear it took so long to get diagnosed.
I haven't heard of your meds, but I'm sure someone in here will have.

It doesn't make sense to take you ff your meds if they were working, I'd go back and see him.

Have a good time browsing in here, I know it's helped me enormously

Hi Danman,

Sorry I wrote that wrong he did not take me off the meds but he reduced them. My chemist was msot annoyed about it when she realised. As I asked her why would my specialist put me on them twice a day and the my GP reduce them without even asking me.

Hi Pen,

thanks a mil for writing to me. Funny you should say that my chemist went mad when she realised what he had done. So she has put me back up to the original amount. Gp's over here our so bad. I hate going to them. And I am very hesitant in going to them. I was with the nurse in the practive on Monday. She had me there for an hour and a quarter. And she was furious with the way I have been treated.

Thank you Pen so much. I will be having a good look around and talking with everyone and hopefull I will be able to help someone too. I was back in otuch with my kinesiologist so just waiting to get an appointment from her. I totally agree with all you say. My specialist I am under is brilliant and so nice to go with it.

No, me bad, I didn't read it right. Surely your GP shouldn't change what your consultant prescribed.
I'd go back and tell him to change it back. If it's working, don't change it.

As Pen said, there is a multitude of med's out there for us, but if one is working, you should stay on it till it stops working.

With this illness, we are running a marathon not a sprint.
You have years to try out the lovely med's we can get. So untill yours don't work, why did he rush to change it?

Hi dan,

I have no idea why he reduced it. I spoke with my chemist and she was furious that he had changed them. As it proved by reducing them it has set me back completly. The man is an idiot. I never wanted to go to him but when I went for my GP appointment they had switched me from my lady doctor to him. Any how I am back now taking them as I should and I am back with my specialist next month who will probably have a field day with it.

Hi Karen,

Welcome!! I find it so bizarre that they suggested to you that you have a child....I don't know what I would do if someone suggested that to me:ybatty:

Hope you are feeling ok at the moment:)
