Hello, Everyone! Let me start by saying that I am NOT the patient. I do have several serious health problems, however, my husband is the Crohn's victim. I don't know whether or not he would want to discuss his health issues online with anyone, but I feel like if I don't talk to someone, they might have to add insanity to my list of health problems! So, here's our story...
7 years ago, after being sick for quite some time already, my husband finally broke down and went to the doctor. He had what seemed like constant pain & diarrhea and it had caused (as I am sure some of you know) rectal issues. He had tearing and. when the specialist examined him, he sent him straight to the hospital for emergency surgery. Boy, did my life change! I will never forget when the surgeon explained that the only thing that could cause all the damage that found during surgery was Crohn's Disease. I immediately started crying, so he began to try to comfort me by saying things such as "totally treatable" and "he'll be the same fun guy he's always been" and "it's not like your life has just drasticly changed"! I'm not sure if he intentionally lied just to get me to stop crying or just had no clue what he was talking about, but either way, he was completely and utterly WRONG. Here it is, Christmas morning, and IT don't know if he'll even get to watch our 10-year-olds open their gifts. He got out of the hospital the night before last, (another obstruction-was supposed to stay through Christmas but he was feeling better so they let him come home for Christmas and are going to do everything else out-patient) but now, considering he woke up extremely sick this morning, I am beginning to wonder what the point was- he'll probably be back in there by the end of the day....
