How quickly does Prednisone begin to work for you?

Just wondering how fast people here generally feel the effects of Prednisone.

Depends on the dose but the higher doses (40-60mg) generally started working for me around 5 days.
Diagnosis: Crohn's in 1991 at age 9
Surgeries: 1 Small Bowel Resection in 1999; Central IV in 1991-92
Meds for CD: 6MP 75mg
Things I take: Tenormin 25mg (PVCs and Tachycardia), Junel (endometriosis), Tylenol 3 (Osteoarthritis), Zantac 150mg 2/day (acid reflux), Klonopin 1mg (Panic Disorder), Imitrex 25mg (migraines), Zofran 8mg (nausea)
Currently in: REMISSION Thought it was a flare but it's just scar tissue from my resection. Dealing with a stricture. Remission from my resection, 19 years and counting.

I answered "over two weeks." Its effects and its side effects seemed to steadily increase in severity, so that I hardly noticed at first. I had heard how prednisone was a really powerful drug, and was expecting something more dramatic. That did come, but it came on fairly gradually over the weeks, rather than starting suddenly.

Normally within a few days but this time it's been 5 days and I am feeling awful. I went from 7mg up to 30mg and I'm doing a very quick taper. So far, no good

The first few tapers I did worked within about 3 days.

The first time I took it, I felt it in less than 12 hours at 40 mg dose. I actually can still remember waking up the next morning, feeling on top of the world. My appetite was back, I had energy and I didn't feel any pain at all. Now, I am not sure that it ever really takes care of pain for me. I needed a continual dose of at least 20 mg when I was last on it. That was for oral pred. IV pred when I have been in hospital has been dramatically more effective.

First and only time to take it less then 6hours for joint pain and swelling secondary effects to magically go away. I was in tears at the relief from just that alone. I could barely walk from the pain I felt and suddenly it was gone. So I picked less then a day!

It did take much longer to get the flare under control though. 40mg dose
