So, do you people on IV eat anything, and do you have diarrhoea if you just have IV. I really feel I need to give my whole digestive tract a break. I've been on liquid feeds for around 13 years and still suffer in the whole digestive tract.

Any advice please. I so want to be diarrhoea free for a time.

I'm currently in hospital and will be starting TPN in a day or two for pre surgery nutrition. I thought I was going to get a PICC line today but not yet.

I've been told that even though I will be fed by TPN that you will still poo a little. But it will definitely give your stomach a rest. I imagine after a few days your bowels will calm down if on TPN.

Good luck buddy if you get it. I'm not looking forward to the PICC line but will be glad once it's in to get some nutrition.

must be great doing just a little. I have stomach and duodenal ulcers and abrasions and general soreness along with a stricture. I'm hoping they'll allow me to get on to tpn for a while. Would be good. Nothing seems to digest throughout my system. i'm in touch with a specialist and my dietician

I've just had a hickline put in and it was a great experience. It was few sharp scratches for the local injection and the about 5-10 minutes for the line to be put in. I would have it again in a heart beat.

Apparently it can be kept in for up to 2 years (but I don't think I will have it in too long) for TPN.
