Hi everyone

Helo everyone, I'm a new member here so I thought I'd just give you a bit of background.

I was diagnosed with Crohns disease in January after approximately 8 weeks of symptons and tests. The doctor soon got it under control with steroids and now I'm on imurane which seems to be keeping it at bay.

I am only aware of one previous attack which happened some 3 years ago just after my son was born. It was never diagnosed and eventually cleared up due to one or other of the pills my GP gave me at the time.

Unfortunately I am now suffering from extreme dizziness and have been doing so for the last 8 weeks and have been unable to drive during this time. With a 3 and 4 yo being dizzy all the time makes it pretty tough at times but the kids are good about it and DH is really supportive.

The doctor as yet has been unable to figure out just what's wrong so I have blood tests on friday to see what my B12 levels were and I'm off for a CT scan on Wednesday. It's all pretty scary so if anyone has an insite to this kind of sympton I'd love to hear. I find it hard to believe that someone (me) that is never sick, even with a cold normally should suddenly be diagnosed with Crohns and then be ill in a completely different way. Surely they're related.

Well nice to meet you all. I'll start reading posts today when the kids are at playschool

Thanks
Toni

Hi Toni! Welcome to the forum!!

I guess that's the thing with CD, you just suddenly become very sick! I am a Teacher, so I am around sick kids all of the time, but I maybe get a cold once a year. Since Aug. of last year, I've never been so sick in my life! Throwing up, D, night sweats, feeling tired alot, blind spots in my eyes, joint pain. Now, everyone's symptoms seem to be different, but we all seem to have 1 or 2 things in common.

I hope the Dr can figure things out for you soon! Keep us posted!

Hey Toni - welcome to the forum. I hope you get some answers from your scan. They only time I have ever been dizzy from Crohn's it was just due to weakness and lack of nutrients and it was only when I stood up. Nothing severe like yours. I'm sure they checked you for an ear infection, but you never know - maybe they overlooked it because they were looking for a Crohn's thing? Last time I was dizzy it was due to an ear infection. Maybe you have a severe one? There isn't always pain with it.
Anyways - let us know what you find out, and welcome again!

Welcome to the forum.

Have you lost any hearing, or feel any other symptom besides the dizziness?

It could very well just be an inner ear infection, especially since you are taking immune suppressants.

Dan

Thanks for your welcome all. The dr doesn't think it's an ear infection but then again I don't have much faith in her.

I've decided to wait until I have the results of the blood tests and the CT scan and then try another doctor recommended by a friend. My Crohns specialist didn't seem concerned when I told him about the symptons so I'm hoping it's just a B12 deficiency or something similar.

Welcome Toni!

I get dizzy too - especially when I stand up - I put it down to the B12 deficiency - am hoping to get injections when I see the consultant next month.

Good luck - consider yourself lucky you got a diagnosis so quick - some of the guys on here seem to have suffered for years before getting any decent help. Like you I was one of the lucky ones my GP is fab - 8 weeks to a diagnosis - phew!

Keep your chin up!

Yes Lishyloo, having read some of the stories here I was lucky getting such a quick diagnosis although it seemed like a very long time at the time iykwim.

I have to confess I'm terrified today because of what they might find on the CT scan but it really feels like an infection to me and my current GP is pretty hopeless.

I see you're in Hertfordshire..I used to live in Potters Bar, now I'm in QLD Australia but it's always good to see someone from my home country.
