New to Crohns Disease

Hello
I have been recently diagnosed with crohns disease about 2 months ago.
Trying to get in remission without meds and by eating healthy and clean foods. I see a nutritionist and my gastroenterologist regularly, hoping to heal me naturally.
Would like to talk with other people that are going through the same thing as me.
Îs it normal while healing for your stomach to hurts at times? How long does it take to heal naturally?

Any positive help is welcome :)

Hi and welcome.
Sorry you've been diagnosed.

Its important to get into remission quickly to avoid future complications from inflammation. Its hard to say if you will get into remission naturally or not. This disease is different in everyone. You may find it necessary to use meds to get into remission. Discuss it with your specialist.

I hope you feel better soon. Sending you my support.

Thank you for responding.
I have minimal complications. Found out I had this disease from having several tests. The ct scan showed inflammation in the ileum and the colonoscopy confirmed this. I had pain when eating one day and that's how it all began.
My gastroenterologist feels that I should be able to do this naturally. I'm hoping he is right as I don't want to take a whole bunch of meds.
Wanting to have a baby and this has put a block in the road. So recovery as soon as possible would be awesome.

The diet thing won,t work as sadly loads of people on here have discovered it only kicks bigger problems down the road it can help to top up drug treatments and identify foods that set you off but honestly get your gi to get you on a drugs regime to control your inflammation.good luck all the best

Have you told your GI about your stomach hurting? I would love to say diet alone will bring remission, but you need to address the active disease itself. Diet is great as a proactive choice to fight CD, but along with meds. In my opinon.
What is your diagnosis? Check out the nutrition section on the forum. You may find it helpful.
Good luck!

I'm guessing since you want to avoid hard meds you could give hemp oil a shot, best of luck trying to heal naturally though, hope things work out for you

Had a quick look at this Weston a price diet and unlike many diets recommended for crohns and I,m not saying this is,all it seems to be is a healthy varied diet which crohnies and non crohnies should attempt to live by,will it cure crohns?doubt it,but it seems at least sensible.good luck all the best

Well my 16 year old son was diagnosed in 2011 and has done SCD since. We have done test that have provided evidence the body has been healing. vce capsule, colonscopy, edoscopy. His large intestine and stomach still need work but has shown improvement. Good luck and do believe the body has the ability to heal. I belive medicine has its place when needed. Good luck

Greetings and welcome to the community.

I am a HUGE fan of changes to diet and lifestyle in the treatment of Crohn's disease. However, I am not a big fan of that being the only means of treatment. In my opinion, it should be part of an overall treatment plan. I absolutely understand your desire to treat your Crohn's naturally, but this is a very complicated disease. If you're going to take the natural approach, you need to be VERY WELL educated. Let me ask you these questions:

1. When was your last fecal calprotectin done? What was the level? What is the trend?
2. When was your last CRP done? What was the level? What is the trend?

3. When was your vitamin D level last done? What was the level? What is the trend?

4. When was your vitamin B12 last done? What was the level? What is the trend?

5. Is anything amiss on your CBC? If yes, what? Is anything trending in the wrong direction?

6. What alternative medications are you taking? Why?

7. What is short bowel syndrome? Why should you do everything you can to avoid it?

These are a start.

I would consider taking four Peptobismal tablets (or teaspoons) daily and assess response while your medicines start working...ok to take bismuth for a few weeks from what I read...not for years, because the bismuth builds up...has a salicylate in it, so check with doc before taking if you think you can become pregnant, but from what I read, seems fairly safe

I'm not sure how well healing naturally works. However I do know that this is different for everyone, so I wish you the best of luck in that! I personally have just recently started on the remicade treatment, and it is working really well for me!
