Do colon ulcers heal completely?

I was unofficially diagnosed with Crohn's disease 24 years ago. Underwent emergency surgery at this time for appendicitis and colon resection. I had not taken any medication for 20 years, until 3 days ago (slight pain in lower right abdomen). Just had a colonoscopy and said I was mildly active, however not officially for crohns because I do not show a pattern. I have a small ulcer at my resection, lower right colon. My question is "Will this ulcer completely heal or will it always be present?" I was prescribed Lialda 3 times daily.

With proper treatment, yes, ulcers will heal. It is important however to continue with follow up and preventive care as symptoms can often be silent and not show themselves until damage is done.

Welcome to the community :)

As stated, yes, they can heal. The only problem with Lialda is it works topically and Crohn's disease can affect every layer of the intestine. But since you've gone so long with meds, I can see the doctor wanting to take the ultra-conservative route.

They sure can however the risk is if they can leave chronic scarring if they are there and not healing for a while.
