Does this sound like ibd? DR's won't help me.

I have come from the dr's again for the hundred or so times feeling very frustrated. I have got a long history of suspected IBS though nobody has ever tested me but me and my hubby are concerned that the DX is wrong anyway. I have got symptoms which do flare up due to food and stress which give me a swollen tummy, tummy pains, wind and constipation which takes weeks to settle and is very painful. However over the last 6 months it has become a lot worse with new symptoms. Now i get nearly constant mouth ulcers, sores and blisters all over my mouth and gums which i have seen the dentist about plus my gp who both keep saying use mouthwash etc which i do but it doesn't get better at all. Over the past 10 days in particular i have been in agony with my tummy and it has never been this bad. It started when i felt punched in the tummy which was also upset with constant constipation which is treated. I then by the next day was in pain with my bum..... It felt so very sore like i felt bruised..... I could barely sit down, its agony. Then my bladder stopped working properly, again feeling bruised, struggling to wee then going ok but sore with shooting pains. I cant have sex as its so painful. Going for a poo burns like mad and hurts 2. This is also with intermittent bouts of bleeding from my bum and mucous. I am taking paracetamol, colpermin, and fybogel but i feel just as poorly and sore. I am sleeping for 11-13 hours a day. I have had a wee test and i don't have an infection there but other than that the Dr wont help, i have tried 2 drs in 3 days.

Am i going mad or does this sound like an ibd flare up?. The Dr keeps saying it is piles and IBS neither of which have been tested or DX!!. I have been sent home with mebeverine now and ' its IBS, please come back in 2 weeks if it doesn't change'!!!.

I just keep breaking down in tears and i dunno what to think. We are going to a new dr's but nobody will listen so far. I have never felt so poorly before.

Any advice plz? Xx

You need to be examined by a GI specialist. You don't say that you have had a colonoscopy. I think that should be done right away, and perhaps an MRE as well to get a look at the small bowel.

If either the colonoscopy or the MRE shows inflammatory ulcers that will settle the IBD vs. IBS question right away.

Hi there and thanks for your reply. No i haven't had a colonoscopy because the gp's have been refusing to send me. Hopefully i will have better luck at the new practice. No tests yet at all not even a finger up my bum for the supposed piles.

You need to keep going to your GP until they get you an appt.with a GI.You're obviously unwell and stressed.It is your right to have these symptoms investigated.
Make a list of your symptoms,length of time you've suffered from them,diet etc.the fact that your love life is suffering should be investigated,if nothing else.
Mouth ulcers and fatigue and your other symptoms are all common with crohns,but we cannot advise you until you've been properly diagnosed.I really feel for you and hope you get the help you deserve soon.

Hi thanks for the advice. I will do a diary of symptoms etc and food diary and take it to the new g.p, my husband is going to come with me as i am a bit stubborn and try to cope alone but its making us argue now because i get so upset. Xxx

It's good that you hubby wants to come with you.He might mention things you forget.
I'm like you,I always go to appointments alone,but my hubby does give me lots of support. I hope you get sorted really soon.

That way you bring two copies one for the gp and one for yourself

There are things that can mimic crohns
Bechets is one of those and mouth ulcers are a big issue with that

I would go to the emergency if I were you and you might have a chance to meet with a gastroenterologist there. Push to see one. wishing you well.

Hi i am considering a&e at the moment as my tummy is bad again. Got diarrheah now and upset tummy since last night plus constant headaches. Had enough today xx
