Refrigerate again?

Lately, my medicine has been coming in a package of two i have taken the package out with both syringes and let them thaw. After the injection, i put the unused one back in the refrigerator until it need it. Will that make it less effective?

I would probably take the second one and place it directly into the fridge when you get it. There should be plenty of time for it to thaw on its' own before you need it.

Do you refreeze the thawed unused syringe or merely store it in the normal refrigerated compartment? Repeated freeze/thaw cycles can damage proteins. Antibodies like Humira are generally fairly rugged proteins, but even they can take only so much.

Storing it gently in the refrigerator is probably okay for a while, but I'm not sure for how long. Do the insert or packaging materials provide any storage instructions? If not you can probably find it online somewhere.

Is it possible to separate the two syringes and thaw only one of them, keeping the other one frozen until it is needed later?

Humira is never to be frozen btw
It is not supposed to be stored below 36F( normal refrigerator temp)
The box comes with two syringes or pens which need protected from light
We take one out of the box (and close the box leaving the other still in the refrigerator)
The one we are using sits out for 15 minutes per the manufacturer instructions.
Humira can be kept at room temp for up to 14 days but can not be placed back in the refrigerator
It must be used before the end of the 14 days .

Ds takes 2 shots a week (every 5 days)
So we always have extra boxes for the following week stored in the fridge
We always stored them in the original closed box with the plastic bag on it so. I thing that spills will compromise the box
And
We only take out the one syringe we intend to use for that nights injectuon
Not the whole box

Hope that helps

The my humira complete nurse can also be called if you have questions

Good luck
