Cubam Receptor

Cubam receptors are multi-ligand receptors located in the terminal ileum and are responsible for absorbing vitamin B12. 99% of vitamin B12 is absorbed in the terminal ileum in healthy individuals yet those with Crohn's Disease are often deficient for a variety of reasons.

Cubam receptors are made up cubilin and amnionless with the cubilin being the receptor that recognizes vitamin B12 that is bound with intrinsic factor.
