Loperamide (and the brand name version Imodium) are over the counter anti diarrhoeal medication. It is generally safe for patients with IBD to use occasionally, but shouldn't be used as a long term solution, as it doesn't treat the root cause of the diarrhoea. By taking Immodium regularly, there is a risk of constipation and blockages. If regular diarrhoea is a problem, you should speak to your doctor as you may need a change to your IBD medication, or there may be an alternative anti diarrhoeal medication that is more suited to long term use.
